Medina celebrates homecoming with sports, festivities

Medina High School celebrated Homecoming 2025 with a week of athletic victories and community events, culminating in the crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.

The festivities began Wednesday, Oct. 29, with the annual tailgate, pep rally and lighting of the “M.”

Seniors Lilyan Voight and Mike Bogorad were named Football Sweetheart and Cheer Beau.

On Thursday, the Lady Cats volleyball team traveled to Three Rivers to face Austwell-Tivoli High School in a Bi-District Championship match.

Medina won in straight sets, securing the 2025 Bi-District Championship.

Friday featured the Homecoming coronation.

Seniors Kailey McCabe and Ty Jones were selected by their peers as Homecoming Queen and King.

Following the ceremony, the Bobcats defeated Leakey 75-30 in a six-man mercy rule victory, securing a playoff berth. The teams traded early touchdowns before Medina pulled ahead in the first half.

Saturday’s events included the annual parade, carnival, alumni reception and student Hocoween dance.

The community honored classes from 1956 through 2016, with activities ranging from a dunking booth and bounce house to a ring toss.

Medina athletics will continue Tuesday, Nov. 4, with the Lady Cats traveling to George West to play San Perlita for the Area Championship.

The Bobcats will return to action the following week for the Bi-District Championship, with dates, times and opponents yet to be determined.
