The Bandera Natural History and Art Museum has received $175,000 in grant funding from the Kronkosky Foundation to support its operations, educational programming and long-term financial stability.

The funding includes $35,000 for operational support to maintain the museum’s educational initiatives and collections, and $140,000 to be added to the museum’s endowment fund.

The Bandera Natural History and Art Museum features exhibits combining natural history, New Spain colonial art and cultural artifacts from around the world.

The property includes the outdoor DinoWalk, which displays 19 life-size prehistoric models, along with indoor galleries highlighting art and artifacts from a range of regions and time periods.

Museum Director Deborah Chaney said the investment will allow the museum to continue developing programs and maintaining its collections for the community and visitors.

“Securing this investment allows us to focus on what we do best — bringing the world to Bandera through education, art and wonder,” Chaney said. “Our priority is ensuring that children, families and visitors from across the region can continue to experience the magic of discovery for years to come.”

According to the museum, the grant will help sustain its educational outreach and community engagement efforts while contributing to long-term financial security.

The Kronkosky Foundation, based in San Antonio, supports nonprofit organizations serving residents of Bandera, Bexar, Comal and Kendall counties.

The foundation’s stated mission is to “produce Profound Good” by funding programs that strengthen communities across the region.
