The Bandera Middle School Bulldogs faced off against the San Antonio Academy Wildcats on Oct. 16 in a hard-fought matchup, with the 7th Grade team remaining undefeated while the 8th Grade squad fell short.
7th Grade A Team
The Wildcats scored first, but Branden Delaney responded with a 58-yard touchdown run and a successful 2-point conversion to put Bandera ahead 8–6.
San Antonio Academy regained the lead 14–8, but Delaney tied it before halftime with a 15-yard touchdown run. Jagger Hodge capped the half with an interception.
In the second half, Bandera’s defense shut down the Wildcats while Delaney added a 70-yard touchdown run.
Urijah Reynolds sealed the 20–14 victory with a late interception.
Offensive linemen Mark Hinojosa, Jayden Saucedo, Levi Reyes, Brayden Konvicka, and Jett Lagedrost were credited with strong blocking throughout the game.
8th Grade Team
The 8th Grade Bulldogs opened with a touchdown from Conner Popham and extra point by Sam Postert, but the Wildcats responded.
Cody McCarthy connected with Jacob Tetzlaff for a 58-yard touchdown and ran in the 2-point conversion to make it 15–8.
Bandera led 21–8 after a 4-yard touchdown run by McCarthy, but the Wildcats rallied to lead 38–29 by the final whistle.
The Bulldogs travel to Devine next week, with the 7th Grade aiming to maintain its unbeaten record and the 8th Grade looking for a rebound.
