Camerata San Antonio will present the first in its two-part Russian Mosaic concert series Nov. 7–9, featuring a program that explores the lush Romanticism of pre-Soviet Russian composers.
The concert, titled A Russian Mosaic: Imperial Russia, will be performed at the following locations and times:
• Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. – First Presbyterian Church, 800 Jefferson St., Kerrville
• Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. – Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 11093 Bandera Road, San Antonio
• Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. – Christ Episcopal Church, 510 Belknap Place, San Antonio “This first program features the height of Russian Romanticism,” said Artistic Director Ken Freudigman. “This was considered the golden era of expression, with deep lyricism that represents the lush late Romantic period, blossoming before the shift that happened in 1917.”
The program includes:
• Rachmaninoff’s Two Pieces for Cello and Piano, Op. 2
• A. Taneyev’s Feuillet d’album, Op. 33a
• Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir d’un lieu cher, Op. 42
• S. Taneyev’s Piano Quartet, Op. 20 Performers include Ken Freudigman on cello, Laura Scalzo on violin, Emily Freudigman on viola and Viktor Valkov on piano. Camerata San Antonio is a Grammy-nominated chamber ensemble known for its expressive performances and rich repertoire.
