The Medina Lady Cat volleyball team honored their seniors Tuesday, Oct. 7, before their district match against Knippa.
Senior players Audrey Gatlin and Kailey McCabe were recognized, along with senior manager Amelia Flores.
Following the ceremony, the Lady Cats defeated Knippa in a five-set match, 25-22, 22-25, 2520, 23-25, 15-9.
“We battled, that’s for sure,” said head coach Chyna Phillips. “Everyone put in a lot of good work to hold on to the victory.”
In football action, the Medina Bobcats traveled to Campwood on Friday, Oct. 10, for their first district contest of the season against Nueces Canyon.
A kickoff return for a touchdown on the first play after halftime helped the Bobcats pull away, and the game ended early under the mercy rule.
Final score: Medina 56, Nueces Canyon 8.
