Nagel Clinic launches ‘Life After Loss’ support group

The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic will begin hosting a four-week support group later this month for people who are grieving.

The program, called Life After Loss, will meet Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the clinic. Sessions are scheduled for Oct. 23, Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13.

The group will be led by Maria Monte, a bilingual licensed professional counselor at the clinic.

Discussions and activities will focus on the physical, emotional and spiritual effects of grief, using memories in the healing process, self-care, coping with holidays and anniversaries, and planning for the future.

Participation is open to the public, with space limited to 12 people. A suggested $5 donation will help cover the cost of materials.

Organizers encourage participants to attend all four sessions to receive the full benefit of the program.

“This program is for anyone who has experienced loss — whether of a family member, spouse, or other loved one,” Monte said. “Grief is a journey, but no one has to walk it alone.”

To reserve a spot, call Susan Broa at the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic at 830-796-3448, ext. 4.
