SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer has been charged with assault stemming from an off-duty incident in Medina County, the department announced Saturday.
Officer Cody Haegelin, a 14year veteran currently assigned to SAPD’s SWAT Detail, turned himself in to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for an incident reported Sept. 14.
He faces a charge of assault by choking/strangulation – family.
Police officials said Haegelin has been placed on administrative duty.
An SAPD press release said the San Antonio Police Department is conducting an internal investigation, while the Medina County Sheriff’s Office is leading the criminal investigation.
