Congressman Chip Roy has been endorsed by two national Second Amendment organizations, the National Association for Gun Rights PAC (NAGR PAC) and Gun Owners of America (GOA), in his campaign for Texas attorney general.
The groups cited Roy’s record defending gun rights in Congress as the basis for their support.
“Chip Roy has been one of the most fearless defenders of the Second Amendment in the entire U.S. House,” said Dudley Brown, president of NAGR PAC. “Texans can count on him to take that same tenacity into the Attorney General’s office.”
Tim Macy, chairman of GOA, said Roy is a strong advocate for the right to keep and bear arms and will defend it in the attorney general’s office.
As a congressman, Roy has sponsored and supported legislation including the Real Constitutional Carry Act, the Defending Veterans’ Second Amendment Rights Act, and the Constitutional Hearing Protection Act. Other initiatives include the SAFER Voter Act, the No Backdoor Gun Control Act, and the No REGISTRY Rights Act.
Roy said he will use the attorney general’s office to defend Constitutional Carry, challenge federal gun regulations, and protect Texans’ Second Amendment rights.
Both NAGR PAC and GOA said they plan statewide mobilization efforts to inform members and voters about Roy’s positions on gun rights.
