American Legion Post 410 serves the community

American Legion Post 410 of Lakehills hosted a big catfish dinner on September 13, complete with hush puppies, fries, cole slaw, drinks and some amazing desserts. The whole affair was a way to raise funds for Meals on Wheels, provided by the Silver Sage Resource Center. The event brought in $1,000, all of which will go to Silver Sage.

Mark and Joni Taylor organized the event and donated all the foods. Mark Taylor is a Legionnaire and his wife Joni is in the Auxiliary.

Cody Anderson, 2nd Vice Commander, did all the cooking. The Auxiliary provided all the homemade desserts.

The Navy ROTC cadets helped prepare and serve the plates. Their instructor, retired Lt. Colonel Jon Elliott, who also teaches algebra in Bandera High School, accompanied them. The young cadets who attended were: Lorri Cooksey, Ilianna Charles, Phoebe Cummings, Max Reigel, Dominic Kinsey, Madison Hawkins, Lilah Kinsey, Evan Rissmiller, and Sean Barrett.

The Lakehills American Legion is located at 147 Legion Drive. Call 830612-1034 or email americanlegion410@ att.net8ish.
