Bandera Middle School opens football season

The Bandera Middle School Bulldogs opened their season against the Lytle Pirates with mixed results for the seventh- and eighthgrade teams.

7th Grade

The seventh-grade Bulldogs earned a 24–6 victory. Branden Delaney scored on a 40-yard run on just the second play of the game and added another touchdown on a 20yard run. Jagger Hodge contributed a 23-yard touchdown, while Aiden Rush converted all two-point attempts.

The offensive line, including Jayden Saucedo, Levi Reyes and Mark Hinojosa, paved the way for the big plays. On defense, Elliott Rodriguez, Elijah Coloney, Logan Marks, Mason Kaples and Achilles Pellio-Dillion helped keep the Pirates in check.

8th Grade

The eighth-grade Bulldogs fell 8–20 in a hard-fought battle. Cody McCarthy scored on a 15-yard run and converted the two-point attempt, putting the Bulldogs on the board early. Defensive stops were led by Daniel Cale, Jake Perez, Case Thaler and McCarthy. Jase McCarthy added an interception, while Cash Keller andConnerPophamprovided steady rushing yards.

Both teams return to action next week at home against Cole. Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on the Bulldogs as they aim to build momentum for the season.
