Bandera Equine Posse holding first meeting Monday

Bandera Equine Posse holding first meeting Monday

The newly formed nonprofit Bandera Equine Posse will hold its first annual membership meeting Monday, Sept. 15, at 11:30 a.m. at the First National Ice Haus, 317 Main St. in Bandera.

The public is invited to attend.

The group formed this summer after the July floods, which left equestrian trails in the city park impassable.

Local horse owners worked with park staff to restore the trails, and organizers said the effort highlighted the need for an ongoing group of equine advocates.

The Posse’s goals include preserving the heritage of horses and the cowboy way in Bandera, partnering with agencies to maintain equestrian trails, recognizing equines as a community and tourism asset, and promoting safety through education.

At the meeting, members will adopt bylaws and establish the founding board, which includes Anthony Soupley, Bob DeGeorge, Diana Walters, Debra Slate, Frank Hicks, Tawni Solise and Harrieth Stewart.

For more information, contact the board at [email protected].
