The Lakehills Area Library is hosting two artists for the month of September. Yvette Gomez and Mary McGovern have never exhibited in the library before and are eager to display their works.
Yvette Gomez moved to the lake area in 2017, when she began her textile journey. A fiber artist, she learned to weave different materials, such as cotton, wool, denim and yarn. She often incorporates driftwood, making new creations, combining her love of art and nature. Many of her projects are macramé, harking back to an earlier time.
Gomez calls her endeavor Pebble Beach Art and she can be found on Facebook and on Instagram. She can be contacted by email at Pebblebeachart@yahoo. com.
Mary McGovern lives in San Antonio and visits family in Pipe Creek. She specializes in “hyper realistic drawings and oil paintings.” Her favorite subjects include flowers, clouds, animals, and especially horses.
Her work has been exhibited numerous times across the state, including the San Antonio Art League and Museum, as a finalist for the Hunting Art Prize, and as a finalist for the 14th International ARC Salon.
