The Bandera Bulldogs closed out their final scrimmage of the year with a dominant defensive performance, shutting out the Burbank Bulldogs on Thursday night.
From the opening series, Bandera’s defense set the tone by immediately putting points on the board.
On the second defensive play of the game, senior defensive back Cash Raab deflected a pass that floated into the hands of Caleb Tippit. Tippit returned it 35 yards for a pick-six, giving Bandera an early lead.
The defense held strong all night, keeping Burbank scoreless through four quarters. The defensive line applied consistent pressure while the secondary contained the passing game.
Bandera’s offense complemented the defensive effort with several explosive plays. Running back Juan Cabrera broke free for a 50-yard rush that set up quarterback Dalton Parks’ five-yard touchdown scramble in the first quarter.
Parks later connected with Jeffry Thomas on a 65yard touchdown pass. The Bulldogs capped the night with a 58-yard connection from Jake Cesta to Ian Prothro, sealing the victory and showcasing the team’s offensive depth.
It was a complete team performance, but the defense stood out as the star of the night.
The Bulldogs will open the season Friday, Aug. 29, with an exhibition game at Poteet. Kickoff against the Aggies is set for 7 p.m.
Bandera’s first home game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 5, against Ingram.
