Frontier Times Museum hosting art sale

The Frontier Times Museum will host an Art Fair and Print Sale this weekend, offering visitors a chance to purchase unique gifts from Texas artists, including Dalhart WindbergandWarrenHunter.

The sale will run during museum hours from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30. A VIP preview sale with wine and refreshments will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

The fair is made possible through a donation of Dalhart Windberg prints from Tom and Nora Dobson.

Windberg, a Texas native, is known for landscapes of the Texas Hill Country and the coast. He gained national recognition in the 1960s and has produced still lifes and figurative oil paintings depicting life in Mexico, Spain, and Greece.

He was named an official Texas state artist by the Texas Legislature in 1979 and has authored a book on his “smooth surface” oil painting technique. His works have appeared in publications including Southwest Art, U.S. Art, and Collectors Mart, and are held in corporate and private collections.

The Dobsons’ donation of Windberg prints will help raise operational funds for the museum, supporting its free educational programs for local and area students.

In addition to Windberg, the sale will include vintage prints and original artwork from a variety of Texas artists.

The Frontier Times Museum is located at 510 13th Street in Bandera. For more information, call 830-796-3864 or visit the museum’s website.
