The Bandera County Commissioners Court will hold a regular meeting Thursday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. in the County Courthouse at 500 Main Street.
The meeting will begin with a public forum and will include discussion, review, and possible action on several key items.
The court will recognize the Bandera County Historical Commission for receiving the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Historical Commission for their work in 2024.
Commissioners are also expected to consider a resolution opposing the proposed Howard-to-Solstice 765-kV single-circuit transmission line project in Bandera County and a special meeting may be scheduled to discuss the project with POWER Engineers.
The court will review a request to create Bandera County Emergency Services District No. 1 in Medina and set a public hearing date to review the petition.
Public hearings are scheduled on the proposed 202526 budget and the county’s tax rate, followed by votes to adopt the budget and tax rates, including Maintenance and Operation, Road and Bridge and Interest and Sinking rates. The court will also vote to ratify any property tax increase included in the budget.
The District Clerk will certify an order from the 198th District Judge regarding annual salaries, travel expenses, and other allowances for the County Auditor, assistant auditors and court reporters.
Commissioners will consider continuing the County Indigent Health Care Program, including its eligibility criteria, and may approve optional services for the 2025-26 state fiscal year.
The court will consider authorizing the County Judge to sign an interlocal agreement for FY 2025-26 with the Hill Country Regional Public Defender’s Office, which serves Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr and Medina counties. According to the agenda, the agreement provides legal defense for indigent defendants and facilitates mental health resources for those with mental illness.
Commissioners will also discuss and vote on budget line item transfers and amendments.
Routine items on the consent agenda include county official and departmental reports, payment of bills, schedules of countywide receipts and semi-monthly payroll, approval of minutes, and deputations.
