The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is reminding hunters and anglers that it’s time to renew licenses for the 2025-26 season.
Current-year hunting and fishing licenses, except the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package, expire at the end of August. New licenses went on sale Aug. 15.
Texans buy more than 3 million hunting and fishing licenses each year. Sales directly fund conservation and recreation efforts, including fish stocking, wildlife management, habitat restoration, public hunting leases, river access sites and Texas Game Wardens.
Licenses can be purchased online at the TPWD website, by phone at 800895-4248 or in person at retail locations and TPWD offices. A $5 administrative fee applies to phone and online sales. Hold times may be longer at the start of the season.
All recreational licenses and stamps are now available in digital form when purchased online. Digital license holders must keep proof of purchase on a mobile device in the field and use the Texas Hunt & Fish app for tagging. Paper licenses are still valid, but hunters must use physical tags for animals that require them.
The Outdoor Annual mobile app provides season regulations and functions without internet connectivity once downloaded. Hunters can also use the app for license lookup, harvest reporting and public land check-ins.
Hunters and anglers may also purchase entries in the Lifetime License Drawing. Three winners will receive a Lifetime Super Combo License. Entries cost $5 each, with the first deadline Sept. 30.
When buying licenses, customers may donate to Hunters for the Hungry, the Fund for Veterans Assistance or Operation Game Thief. Donations support food banks, veteran service organizations and wildlife crime stoppers programs.
