Ask any American, The answer will always be…YES!
We all remember being taught about America’s great history before we even got to high school, the greatest history of any nation in the world, written by our Framers in 1776 in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal…” and that we have “unalienable Rights…of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
There are 1,458 words in the Declaration of Independence. In just 25 words, our Framers warned us about what we face today: “A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.”
Change the word “prince” to “president” and we have exactly what the Framers warned us about 2 and 1/2 centuries ago.
HOW COULD IT HAPPEN?
On July 1, 2024, in a 6-3 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Republican appointed judges announced a “brand new constitutional immunity from criminal liability for a president’s “official acts” even if they are “criminal and blatantly corrupt.”
WHY WE HAVE 3 BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT With 3 branches of government, the Framers created a system of checks and balances so no branch could become more powerful than the others. But under the Supreme Court’s 2024 immunity decision, Donald Trump could do that. By June 4, 2025, he had signed 147 executive orders. Attacks on voting rights are among the most dangerous. In March, Trump signed an Executive Order to “overhaul and exert partial control over significant parts of the nation’s election systems. “
According to a federal court, “the constitution vests none of these powers in the President.” This Executive Order is being challenged in U.S. Courts. Trump’s also trying to get states to redraw voting districts to increase the number of Republican seats before the 2026 elections, starting with Texas, so Republicans can keep their hold over Congress. Trump supports Republican’s “unitary executive theory”. It throws out checks and balances and replaces them with paramount presidential authority.
In her dissent to the Supreme Court ruling giving presidents absolute immunity when they issue Executive Orders, Justice Sotomayor nailed it: “The president of the United States is the most powerful person in the country, and possibly the world. When he uses his official powers in any way, under the majority’s reasoning, he will now be insulated from criminal prosecution.
• Orders the Navy’s Seal Team 6 to assassinate a political rival. Immune.
• Organizes a military coup to hold onto power. Immune.
• Takes a bribe in exchange for a pardon. Immune.
