The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has received a $50,000 grant from the Perry & Ruby Stevens Foundation to support its Well-Woman Program.
The program provides uninsured women in Bandera County with access to health services including physicals, birth control counseling, cancer screenings and chronic disease management.
With a dedicated gynecologist and exam room, the clinic offers care to women who often face financial and geographic barriers to treatment.
The grant will help fund medical staff, diagnostic testing and wellness services. In 2024, the Well-Woman Program delivered more than 300 services to 65 women, leading to improved outcomes in blood pressure, diabetes and mental health indicators, a press release said.
“The Foundation is proud to invest in the health and dignity of women through the outstanding work of the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic,” Mark Milton, executive director of the Stevens Foundation, said in the release. “Their Well-Woman Program delivers care that is both compassionate and life-changing for the women of Bandera County.”
The Stevens Foundation has supported the Nagel Clinic for many years, helping advance its mission to provide no-cost health care to uninsured and underserved residents.
The latest grant, clinic officials said, brings renewed momentum to efforts to close the care gap for women in the county.
