Republicans in the U.S. Congress just handed President Trump an important tool for his plan to march forward toward his goal of Autocrat in complete control of the United States.
The bill just passed through Congress supported entirely by Republicans and opposed by 100 percent of Democrats in the House and Senate hands Trump billions of dollars to assemble the largest unregulated “police” force in the history of this country. This goon squad will be under the control of Homeland Security and designated for immigration enforcement but answerable to no one but Trump. There were a few Republican holdouts for this bill in the House and Senate but those voting Aye include Rep. Chip Roy and Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. The bill widely described as the worst piece of legislation ever to pass through federal legislative bodies strips billions of dollars from Medicaid, Food Stamps and ultimately Medicare to help offset trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthiest one percent of Americans both on their personal and corporate incomes.
Meanwhile the Republican appointed members of the U.S. Supreme Court recently reaffirmed their willingness to distort the Constitution in ways that green light Trump’s illegal executive orders. Democrats are vowing to make passage of the bill the center piece for unseating Republicans in the House and Senate in 2026. Trump has other plans. He is directing the heavy-handed tactics of ICE to sweep up anybody with brown skin in blue cities and states and by doing so hopes to stir up enough public protest that violence will erupt in major American cities. He then will violate more law and send in U.S. armed forces to quell the violence so he can declare martial law and postpone the elections indefinitely.
His backup plan is to screw up the election process should the election occur. If the people don’t cooperate and provide the necessary violence from protests Trump already has his Justice Department harassing and threatening blue-state election officials. State election officials in states controlled by Republicans will be pressured to refuse to certify election results that favor Democrat candidates. In this way Trump can muddy the waters around Republican losses and Democrat gains from the 2026 elections and keep the Congress in limbo long enough to get his police force well established and ready to quickly dispel any-and-all resistance to his plans for autocratic rule of the country.
