Council reconvening after cancelled meeting

The Bandera City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, to consider the agenda originally scheduled for July 8, a meeting that was canceled due to a lack of quorum.

Mayor Denise Griffin said the cancellation was posted on July 3, before the region was affected by the tragic flooding over the holiday weekend.

In a statement, Griffin praised the city’s residents for their ongoing support of neighboring communities recovering from the floods.

“In regard to our flood protocols, we have just tested the alarm system that was installed way back in the ’40s,” Griffin said. “Thankfully it still works, so now we will gather info and ideas on how to implement this in Bandera. The community has been donating their best efforts, time, heavy machinery, food, and money to our neighbors to the north.”

Among the top items on the agenda is the appointment of an interim city administrator. Griffin confirmed that council will consider a resolution on the matter during the July 22 meeting.

“That is really all I can say at this time,” she said. “The council put Jill Shelton and myself in charge as the acting administrators until such time they can appoint the interim.”

Other agenda items include:

• A presentation from TxDOT Area Engineer Andres Gonzalez on the Highway 16 project.

• A budget workshop covering the 2025–26 fiscal year, utility rates, and fee schedules.

• Approval of a $109,800 construction contract with MGB Construction Inc. for a booster pump installation project.

• Consideration of the city’s 7-year street assessment plan.

• A resolution for a fleet lease program for the Bandera Marshal’s Office.

• A resolution to order a general election for three council seats.

• Approval of the Bandera County Hazard Mitigation Plan, previously approved by FEMA. The meeting will take place at Bandera City Hall, 511 Main St. A full agenda is available on the city’s website at www.cityofbandera. org.

Members of the public are invited to attend and provide comment during the designated visitor forum.
