The Emmy Award-winning travel series Staycation has officially released its episode featuring Bandera’s Doe Creek Horse Ranch, now streaming on Roku as of the week of July 14. A Pluto TV release is expected in the coming weeks, and a local television broadcast in the San Antonio market is also planned.
Filmed earlier this year at Doe Creek and during Bandera’s Cowboy Mardi Gras parade, the episode puts the town’s charm and Western spirit on national display.
“It was an honor to have the Staycation TV show spotlight Bandera,” said Spencer Forrest, owner of Backroads Reservations, which manages the Doe Creek property. “The crew did an incredible job capturing the spirit of our town in just a few short hours. With the episode reaching a national audience, I believe it will bring well-deserved awareness to the beauty and charm of the Texas Hill Country.”
During filming, the Staycation crew spent about three hours at the vacation rental before joining the Cowboy Mardi Gras parade aboard the Backroads Reservations truck, tossing beads and soaking in the energy of the event.
“They were genuinely touched by the charm of Bandera—the culture, the people, and especially the sight of horses strolling casually through town,” Forrest said. “That simple, authentic moment left a lasting impression and perfectly captured what makes Bandera unique.”
Doe Creek Horse Ranch, located just minutes from downtown, features eight gated acres and offers guests a blend of rustic style and modern comfort. The home includes two patios with Hill Country views, a ranch-style soaking tub, and equestrian facilities with a 60-foot lighted round pen and stalls.
Staycation, which airs on The Destination Channel, highlights exceptional vacation rentals in destinations around the world. The series has featured locations like Lake Tahoe, Costa Rica and Austin, and draws up to a million viewers per episode.
Backroads Reservations has managed Hill Country vacation properties for more than 20 years and operates the Hill Country Travel App, which promotes local businesses, events and experiences.
