Local DAR members attend national meeting

Members of the Major James Kerr Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), attended the 134th Continental Congress held June 25–30 in Washington, D.C.

The annual event, which draws more than 4,000 delegates from across the country and international chapters, is DAR’s premier national meeting, honoring its mission of historic preservation, education and patriotism.

The five-day gathering included business sessions, committee meetings, formal evening ceremonies and national award presentations.

Events took place at DAR Headquarters and the JW Marriott Hotel, with featured honorees including musician and forest advocate Chuck Leavell and former CIA analyst Gina Bennett.

The organization also welcomed its new President General, Ginnie Sebastian Storage, who will serve a three-year term.

Outgoing President General Pamela Rouse Wright, the second Texan to hold the role, completed her term this year. The ceremony marked both a celebration of DAR’s long-standing traditions and a look ahead to its future work.

The Major James Kerr Chapter also celebrated the national appointments of two local members: Suzanne Faught, named National Division Vice Chair for Commemorative Events, South Central Division; and Nancy Davis, now National Chair for Constitution Week.

The chapter continues to welcome new and prospective members interested in honoring their heritage and serving their community through DAR programs and initiatives.
