Commissioners approve parking lot plan, software contract, replats

At the June 12 Commissioners Court meeting, commissioners unanimously approved a plan to construct a parking lot at the site of the former law enforcement center on Highway 173. County Engineer Deiter Warner said he has submitted a budget request for the project.

The court also approved a request from the County IT Department for County Judge Richard Evans to sign a contract with Ninja-One to enter into an agreement for Mobile Device Management (MDM) software services.

IT Director Dennis Hales said the $2,700, one-year cost will cover licenses for 84 cellphones and 138 mobile devices used by county employees. The county will begin with 100 licenses for cellphones, with the remaining devices to be added next year.

Citing Texas Local Government Code Section 381.004 and Texas Property Code 74.602, commissioners approved a request to apply to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for any unclaimed capital credits from electric cooperatives.

“Some years we get a lot of money, some years we don’t get much money, but we need to get all we can,” Evans said.

Commissioner Jack Moseley requested that the county donate $1,500 from hotel occupancy tax (HOT) funds to the Frontier Times Museum for promotion of a Smithsonian traveling exhibit.

The request passed with Commissioner Troy Konvicka opposing. According to Evans, the money will come from the portion of HOT funds retained by the county—not from the share allocated to the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Public hearings for the replat of four properties were opened with no comments from the public. Preliminary plats were approved for the following subdivisions, each into single lots:

• Avalon Ranch Subdivision D, Block 1, Lots 1–3; Block 7, Lots 1–24; and Block 8, Lots 1–24

• Bridlegate Subdivision Unit 4, Lots 693 and 694

• Bandera River Ranch Subdivision, Unit 4, Blocks 7, 8, 9, and 17 Winans Creek Ranch Subdivision Phase 1 was approved for release of a performance bond for street and drainage construction.
