As millions of Americans joined “No Kings” Day protests across the country Saturday, the Trump Store in Bandera responded with a promotion of its own.

“How about a ‘Kings Day’ Trump Sale. Trump Store Bandera today only. $2 off on all caps, shirts, flags and mugs!!!” read a post on the store’s Facebook page, offering a pointed counter to the national demonstrations.

Billed as a peaceful show of resistance to the Trump administration, the “No Kings” movement brought protesters into city centers, parks and state capitols across the U.S. Organizers estimated thousands of individual protests would take place nationwide, with more than 2,000 officially listed rallies and events, according to USA TODAY. Participants cited concerns about authoritarianism, immigrant rights and executive overreach.

Local Trump supporters praised the sale on social media. “I’ll be there after work today,” one commenter wrote. Another replied more critically: “You can buy a nice lighter and use it on the cap, shirts and flag.”

Store owner Wyatt Forster said moments of political tension, especially those involving Trump, often translate into strong sales.

“When Trump was shot at, it was like a hornet’s nest. We had record sales at both stores,” Forster said earlier this year, referring to his Bandera location on Hwy. 16 South and his second store in Tombstone, Arizona.

Offerings in the Trump Store have included inflatable Trumps, "Build the Wall" LEGO sets, rump 2028 hats, a shooting target of President Joe Biden and shirts bearing slogans such as “God, Guns and Trump.”

While no organized protest appeared to be planned in Bandera, members of the Bandera County Democratic Club previously announced plans to attend the “No Kings Day” protest in Kerrville.

The protests were deliberately timed to coincide with a massive military parade in Washington, D.C., marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. The high-profile event also falls on former President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Roughly 6,600 soldiers are expected to participate, joined by 50 helicopters and heavy military equipment, including 60-ton M1 Abrams tanks. Organizers anticipate crowds of up to 200,000, with increased security measures throughout the capital, according to the Associated Press.

The Associated Press says the parade carries an estimated cost of $25 million to $45 million. Army leaders have defended the spending, saying they expect the event to boost military recruitment. A recent poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that about 60% of Americans believe the parade is not a good use of government funds.
