Two local high school seniors are among 36 students from across Texas’ 21st Congressional District to receive the Exceptional Senior Award (ESA) this year.
Jalyn Lamb of Bandera High School and Sienna Carter of Medina Secondary School were honored for their outstanding character, leadership, integrity and diligence.
The ESA recognizes students who have consistently demonstrated high levels of virtue throughout their educational journeys.
U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, R-Austin, announced the sixth annual ESA recipients Friday, May 30, commending the students for their philanthropic activities, academic success and positive reputations among peers and teachers.
“I am proud of all that the incredible young men and women of Texas’ 21st Congressional District have achieved,” Roy said in a statement. “Texans have reason to be optimistic about our great state’s destiny with them as our future leaders.”
Roy also expressed gratitude to the families of the award winners for their support and to the faculty who recommended the students for the award.
