Four Bandera High School seniors and two students from Medina High School are among ten recipients of the Bandera Electric Cooperative’s 2025–2026 scholarship program, a competitive award providing $2,500 to each student to support their college education.

The scholarship program, which supports students from across BEC’s seven-county Hill Country service area, recognized an exceptional graduating class this year, with Bandera and Medina students earning the majority of the awards.

“This scholarship allows me to pursue my dreams and make a positive impact on the agricultural industry,” said Bandera High School senior Jalyn Lamb, who will attend Oklahoma State University to study animal science and agricultural communications.

Other Bandera High School recipients include: William “Ozzie” Knowles, who plans to study neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin with hopes of becoming a neurologist specializing in mental disabilities.

• Heather Baker, who will attend Tarleton State University to study animal science and production.

• Kinzee Sperry, who plans to major in natural resource and ecology management with a concentration in wetland science at Louisiana State University. From Medina High School, Sienna Kay Carter and Hallie Kunz also earned scholarships. Carter, who is headed to the University of Texas at Austin, said the award brings “financial security” as she continues her education.

The remaining scholarship recipients include:

• Reelyn Fiedler, Tivy High School, who plans to attend Texas Tech University to pursue a career in architecture.

• Mauricio Gallegos, Center Point High School, who will study civil engineering at Texas A&M University.

• Juana Leon, Comfort High School.

Alexis “Lexi” Pendley, Leakey ISD.

BEC’s Marketing and Communications Supervisor Kati Fitzpatrick praised the recipients: “It’s inspiring to see the bright futures they’re building, and we are honored to be a part of their journey.”

Established in 1938, Bandera Electric Cooperative serves over 29,000 members and 40,000 meters across the Texas Hill Country. In addition to providing electricity, BEC offers broadband internet and advanced energy solutions. For more information on scholarships and youth programs, visit banderaelectric.com.
