The Bandera County Commissioners Court approved funding for jailer training and continued investments in its countywide radio system during its regular meeting May 5.
All commissioners were presentexceptforCommissioner Greg Grothues, who was absent due to a continuing illness.
Sheriff Joshua Tietge requested approval for an agreement with Lexipol for an online subscription to Corrections One Academy, which would provide training for county jailers. The Court approved the request, which includes $937 prorated from May through October 2025 and $2,600 for a full year to be covered in the next fiscal year’s budget.
The Court also approved a request for $15,000 toward change order No. 2 for Mission Critical Partners, a firm supporting the acquisition and implementation of the county’s radio system.
Judy Lefevers, Bandera County 911/Emergency Management Coordinator, said the funds were needed to continue working with the company as negotiations with vendors remain ongoing.
The County has invested $138,126 to date in the radio system project, which includes two initial contracts totaling $98,126 — $59,000 in Feb. 2024 and $39,126 in July 2023 — and a $25,000 change order approved in Dec. 2024.
During the meeting, the Court approved bids on five land lots by Steve Walker in accordance with Section 34.05 of the Texas Property Tax Code.
ApreliminaryplanforWinans Creek Ranch Subdivision Phase 3, Lots 70, 79 and 1003 was rejected by the Court following a presentationbyCountyEngineer DieterWerner.
A representative explained that Lot 1003 was intended to be split between Lots 70 and 79, owned and maintained by the Winans Creek HOA, and not developed. However, Judge RichardEvansandthecommissioners struck down the proposal, citing concern over Lot 1003 being less than 10 acres.
The Court approved preliminary plans and set a public hearing date of June 12 for two additional subdivisions:
• Bridlegate Subdivision Unit 4, Lots 693 and 694, to be replatted into a single lot.
• Avalon Ranch Subdivision D, Block 1, Lots 1–3; Block 7, Lots 1–24; and Block 8, Lots 1–24, to be replatted into a single lot. Noactionwastakenfollowing an executive session regarding pending and potential litigation.
