Ciara Garcia of Bandera graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin in spring 2025.
Garcia was among more than 9,000 students who received undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral degrees at UT Austin’s 142nd commencement ceremonies on May 10. Taylor Sheridan, creator of the TV series Yellowstone and Landman, was the featured speaker.
Meanwhile, Schreiner University in Kerrville celebrated its May 2025 graduating class on May 9, awarding degrees to 137 students. Among the local graduates from Schreiner University were Trista Miller of Lakehills, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing; Lauren Benedict of Pipe Creek, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology; and Amanda Perrin, also from Pipe Creek, who graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.
