Gov. Greg Abbott on Monday recognized the vital role of economic development organizations in driving job creation and strengthening communities across the state by proclaiming May 12–16, 2025, as Economic Development Week in Texas.
“Texas is where the future is building — where opportunity is abundant, where free enterprise flourishes, and where families and jobs grow,” Abbott said in a statement. “The key to Texas’ unrivaled success in economic development is teamwork.”
The governor praised local, regional, and statewide development organizations for their collaborative efforts in attracting new businesses and investments while supporting the growth of existing Texas companies.
The proclamation comes as Texas celebrates being named the Best State for Business for the 21st consecutive year by Chief Executive magazine.
The state also won the 2025 Prosperity Cup from Site Selection magazine, earning what Abbott called the “Triple Crown Trophy” for economic excellence.
Abbott also recently unveiled a new five-year statewide economic development strategic plan aimed at expanding job creation and business growth.
