The Cowboy Capital Trail Riders Association (CCTRA) is preparing to honor Bandera’s rich cattle drive history with a slate of Memorial Day Weekend events, following recent recognition for their performance in the Helotes Wild West Round-up Parade.
The group was been invited to Helotes City Hall on Monday, May 12, to receive a certificate from Mayor Whitehead, recognizing the CCTRA’s creativity, uniform appearance, and teamwork during the May 6 parade.
Their coordinated bridle and breast collar sets in vibrant colors earned them first place in the event’s judging.
Newly elected Trail Boss Oscar Olivarez, set to lead the organization through 2025, has laid out what he envisions as the group’s best riding schedule yet, focused on celebrating the legacy of cowboys, cowgirls, and their horses.
Looking ahead, the CCTRA is organizing activities for Memorial Day Weekend in Bandera. Riders are invited to join the Rodeo Grand Entry at the city arena on Friday evening, May 23. A Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, on Main Street.
The association will also host a fundraiser that Saturday at Western Trail Heritage Park on Main Street, serving barbecue plates to the public.
