CRAWFISH BOIL BENEFITS FIREFIGHTERS

CRAWFISH BOIL BENEFITS FIREFIGHTERS

The first annual Fiery Crawfish for Firefighters fundraiser, held April 18-19, was a huge success, serving 660 pounds of crawfish on Friday and 1,000 pounds on Saturday. Proceeds from the silent auction and gun raffle brought the event close to its $30,000 goal, benefiting Bandera County Fire Departments. Funds will be used to purchase wildland fire hoses, personal protective gear, hand tools, firefighting foam, and equipment for truck maintenance, including tires and filters, essential for combating local grass and brush fires.Bob and Barbara Bertain, former Cajuns now residing in Bandera, gave their seal of approval. “This is a great way to have some supper and support the community,” Bob said. “We might even come back tomorrow for another crawfish lunch.” Many attendees were eager to return for seconds, with one enthusiast proudly stating he was on his fifth plate of the savory crawfish.
