There will be no Book Sale the first Saturday in May, and the library will be closed, so that they can be ready for their Annual Fundraiser Gala, “Kentucky Derby Day Benefit.”
The Annual Fundraiser is Saturday, May 3, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. That is Kentucky Derby Day and everyone is invited to purchase tickets at $50 each, which includes food, a Mint Julep, and live entertainment by Natalie Rose. Attendees are encouraged to wear their Best Bowties and Fancy Derby hats, while they enjoy refreshments, more Mint Juleps and other drinks, and watching the horses run. Tickets are available now for the event; and for the raffle prizes, a patio set of two chairs and a table donated by RMC Productions, a $200 True Value gift card, and a $500 True Value gift card; raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20. In addition, there will be a small and selective Silent Auction; as well as games with prizes, including prizes for Best Bowtie and Best Derby Hat. Stop by the library to purchase your tickets.
Community Garage Sale will be on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors can rent a spot now by visiting or calling the library. Spaces start at $20 each.
Pre-School Story Time is every Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to noon. On May 14, the library will host the end-ofseason party for the kiddos. Summer Reading will begin June 4, at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and will run through July.
Kids Steam Camp registration is now open, for youngsters 8 and 9 years old. It will run from June 16-20, from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $15 and includes the camp shirt. Scholarships are available. Register at the front desk.
Blood Drive will take place in the library on Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is sponsored by American Legion Post 157 in Bandera and brought by South Texas Blood & Tissue.
Garden Club will meet Saturday, May 17, 11 a.m. The Club is planning a Garden Tour and Raffle on Saturday, June 7. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from the library or any Garden Club member. For more information, contact the library.
Yarn Club is for those who crochet, knit, embroider or other hand craft. They meet every Friday, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the library meeting room.
Christian Classic Literary Book Club meets every first and third Monday, May 5 and 19, 10 a.m., to discuss “The Practice of the Presence of God” by Brother Lawrence.
Benefits Enrollment Center, brought by Silver Sage, will be available Wednesday, May 14, 10 a.m. to Noon, to provide application assistance for those over 65 or disabled.
Board meeting is Wednesday, May 14, at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, May 27, at 5:30 to discuss “Persuasion” by Jane Austen.
The library will be closed on Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26 to observe Memorial Day.
