Earlier this month, The Bandera Bulletin earned recognition in several categories at the 2025 South Texas Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest, highlighting the newspaper’s dedication to quality journalism and storytelling. Bulletin staff took third place in Feature Writing for work by Daniel Tucker and Tracy Thayer, fourth place in Serious Column Writing for pieces by Susan Hull and Jodie Sinclair. The Bulletin also earned fourth place in Special Section for its eclipse-themed 2024 Spring Trailhead edition, noted by judges for a “funny, striking” cover and thoughtful layout. Managing Editor Daniel Tucker also received individual honors, placing fourth for Journalist of the Year, with judges citing “overall solid reporting.” The annual contest recognizes outstanding journalism in communities across South Texas, with awards presented April 12 in Rockport. The Bulletin competed in Division 2, which includes weekly publications with mid-range circulation.
