Lily Pearl’s Gifts and Antiques opened its door in September, and owner Jayne Bones has seen nothing but steady business since.
The eclectic shop is decked out with beautiful handmade products ranging from lotions to jewelry, windchimes, handbags, woodwork, clothing, and of course – antiques.
Almost every area of the shop is dedicated to a small local business.
“I had been in various areas before, but when this space [328 Main Street] became available, I thought it was a great place to open up,” Bones, a local of Bandera from ’98 said.
Duffel bags, wallets, handbags, purses and keychains made mostly of canvas line the right side of the wall – the products of Myra, a company started in India.
“Other shops carry these products too, but not as much as we do,” Bones said.
The front display is dedicated to Liv Clout, with T-shirts, wine glasses, snacks, and hats. Adjacent to the front display, Schuggy Bees shares a section of the lefthand shelves with their all-natural Honey & Bees wax products, including body butter, deodorant, and lip balms. Underneath Schuggy Bees is a section of old records signed by country stars, including Trace Adkins and Joe Nichols.
Wine glasses, coffee mugs, oil dispensers and trays painted in various florals, including the staple bluebonnet, take a center display in the shop.
“These are hand painted by local artist Terri Walker,” Bones said. “These are incredibly popular gifts. These small Texas magnets sell out fast, too.”
Walker also painted an assortment of ceramic eggs just in time for Easter as just ten dollars a piece.
Another popular sale is the woodwork from Duke’s handmade boards.
“The rooster-shaped cutting board and the charcutier boards are always the first to go,” Bones said.
One product proved to be especially popular during Cowboy Mardi Gras.
“I used the lavender syrup from Lavender and More to make lavender margaritas,” Bones said. “Boy, did that run out fast. I left the recipe next to the syrup bottles because it was such a hit.”
Along with all these products are handmade jewelry designs from Nature Play Designs, Mud Magic Art, Pull My Chains, Natural Life, and K9 Dining. The back section of the shop carries clothing for small dogs and ceramic bowls.
But where Bones’ personal touch comes in is with the antique furniture, Lenox sets, Waterford Crystal, and authentic silver and gold jewelry.
“The lamps that I have here are made from the 30’s,” Bones said. “Made of uranium. I also have this pewter collection, handmade.”
The jewelry on display at the glass counter are pieces that Bones has priced to the market value, from rings to earrings to necklaces and full sets.
As far as a customer base, Bones sees plenty of tourists mingled with the local community.
“I cannot complain,” Bones said. “It’s been very good for me, being here. We’re going to be planning a Sip and See soon, too.”
