A Bandera County man has been arrested on 20 indictments in Kendall County for possession of child pornography; and a second Bandera County man who was indicted in April on eight state charges of sexual misconduct with a child has been accused by federal authorities with production of child pornography, authorities said.

The Bandera Independent School District announced last month that it had named a veteran coach in BISD, Kierstyn Dumont, as its new head girls basketball coach. A news release by the district said Dumont had spent her entire teaching career in the district, first as a middle school coach before moving up to assistant varsity coach and now head coach.Officials said Coach Dumont's father is a longtime athletic director with the Pleasanton Independent School District, so coaching is in her blood.When asked about the opportunity to lead the Lady Bulldogs, Coach Dumont said, “I am so excited to step into the position of head girls basketball coach at Bandera High School. Basketball has always been my passion and being a head basketball coach is something I have dreamt of ever since I was a little girl.“I am thrilled to be getting the chance to live out my dream in the Bandera community. I have loved being a part of the girls athletic program and basketball team for the last three years. I have learned a great deal and I cannot wait to see what the future holds as we continue to strive for greatness and build the girls basketball program here at BHS.”Before interviews for the position began, Bandera ISD Athletic Director Joel Fontenot-Amedee and Assistant Athletic Director Brooke Ashcraft met with the girls basketball team to allow the athletes the opportunity to identify characteristics that they would like to see in their new coach, along with questions that they would like the interview committee to ask candidates, the release saidThe feedback from the athletes was integral to the selection process.Fontenot-Amedee said, “Coach Dumont is a great hire for our school and community. She will put kids first and truly values building positive relationships and character. She is also an excellent teacher in the classroom, which is our top responsibility as educators. She will do a great job leading our girls basketball program. We’re all extremely excited to have her on board."Dumont received her bachelor of science degree in mathematics from The University of Texas in Austin and is on track to receive her master’s degree in educational administration from Lamar University.
