Shotgun team claims state honors

The Bandera County 4-H Shotgun Club excelled at the 2019 Texas 4-H Shotgun Games championship last month, claiming the 2019 County of the Year title and winning the 2019 Gene Schiller Award, club officials said.

The County of the Year award was given for outstanding sportsmanship and community service, while the Schiller Award went to the team with the highest team average.

The team members were Jacob Cameron, Riley Beckham, Kayli Beckham, Billy Browning, Josh Dean, Rowdy Dean, Cooper Dorries, Presley Dorries, Lukas Jackson, Tanner Kaples, Garrett Meier, Lauren Meier, Ashton Robinson and Coleton Trenkelbach.

Honors claimed by the individual members were:

-      For Cameron in the Senior II Division, Texas State Skeet and Texas State Trap

Champion with perfect scores in each event, Texas State High Overall Champion in the division for skeet and trap and sixth place in Sporting Clays;

-     For Riley Beckham in the Senior I Division, first place in the two-man American Skeet Team, third place in the two-man American Trap Team;

-     For Jackson in the Senior I Division, first place in the two-man American Skeet Team, third place in the two-man Trap Team and third place in Whiz Bang;

-     For Garrett Meier in the Senior I Division, fifth place in Whiz Bang and tied for sixth in Gunsmoke;

-     For Lauren Meier in the Ladies Intermediate Division, sixth place High Overall in American Events and eleventh place in Gunsmoke;

-     For Presley Dorries in the Ladies Intermediate Division, Texas State American Skeet Champion, Texas State High Overall Champion American Events, third place High Overall International Events, third place International Skeet, fourth place Whiz Bang and tied for fifth place in American Trap;

-     For Kayli Beckham in the Ladies Intermediate Division, Texas State High Overall Champion International Events, Texas State International Trap Champion, second place in Whiz Bang, third place in American Skeet, second place in three-man American Skeet Team, third place in three-man American Trap Team and sixth place in Open Division Modified Trap;

-     For Rowdy Dean in the Intermediate Division, fifth place in Modified Trap, second place in three-man American Skeet Team and third place in three-man American Trap Team;

-     For Trenkelbach in the Intermediate Division, Texas State Sporting Clays Champion, second place in the three-man American Skeet Team, third place in the three-man American Trap Team and fourth place in American Skeet.
