Crista Zirkel placed second in the high jump to secure an area berth.</p><p>In junior varsity boys competition, Uriyah Ayers placed second in the 400 and 200 and fourth in the 100.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera High School girls track and field team delivered a strong, unified performance at the district meet Wednesday, earning top finishes across both varsity and junior varsity divisions.</p><p>“Our athletic identity is unified,” assistant athletic director and head girls track coach Brooke Ashcraft said. “Whether it’s varsity or JV, sprint or field, we are all Bulldogs. Seeing our girls embrace that ‘We Are One’ spirit and turn it into personal records is what this program is all about.”</p><p>Milesia Casas led the varsity squad with firstplace finishes in the 400 meters and 800 meters, setting a personal record in the latter.</p><p>The 4x400 relay team of Merry Robinson, Casas, Cassi Williams and Sydney Moore also claimed first place.</p><p>Robinson added second- place finishes in the 100 and 200, with a personal record in the 100, while Moore placed second in both the 400 and 100-meter hurdles.</p><p>Madison Davis took third in discus and fifth in shot put, and Williams finished fourth in the 300 hurdles with a personal record.</p><p>The 4x200 relay team placed fifth, and the 4x100 relay finished sixth. Pyper Barnard tied for sixth in the high jump.</p><p>On the junior varsity side, Autumn Prater finished second in the 200, and the 4x400 relay team placed second with a season-best time.</p><p>The 4x200 relay team took third.</p><p>Ellie Voss placed fourth in the 400 with a personal record, while Maci Haby finished fourth in pole vault, also with a personal record.</p><p>Addison Ashcraft recorded personal bests in both the 400 and 800, placing fifth in each event.</p><p>Mariska Collazo finished fifth in the triple jump, Abigail Gilbert placed sixth in the 400 with a personal record, and Taylor Marrs took sixth in discus.</p><p>Bandera will advance to area competition, carrying forward the same unified approach that fueled its district performance.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>Senior Breydan Gherman set a new school record in the 100-meter dash as the Bandera High School boys track team captured the team title at the Falls City Invitational.</p><p>Gherman finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.70 seconds, breaking the previous Bandera record of 10.89 set by Tommy Cardenas in 2020. He also won the 200-meter dash.</p><p>The Bulldogs also found success in the relays, with the 4x200-meter team of Ruffin Scartocci, Carter Hanks, Ian Prothro and Gherman placing first. The 4x400-meter relay team of Scartocci, William Vidmer, Prothro and Zach Goodin also finished first.</p><p>Goodin added another gold medal for Bandera with a first-place finish in the 3,200 meters, while Luciano Martinez placed third in the 1,600 meters.</p><p>In field events, Logan Harman placed third in the shot put. Bandera also claimed third, fourth and fifth place in the pole vault with Jonah Klein finishing third, Jaymin Klein fourth and Prothro fifth.</p><p>The junior varsity team also posted several strong performances. Josiah Lehman won the pole vault, while Cooper Cale and William De La Paz finished first and second in the 800 meters. Tristan Wilson placed second and Michael Ramirez third in the 1,600 meters.</p><p>Kyler Hebert earned two medals in the throws, finishing second in the shot put and third in the discus.</p><p>Bandera will next compete Thursday at the Antler Relays in Kerrville.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>Medina athletes turned in a series of strong performances Feb. 25-26 during the annual Medina Bobcat Relays, highlighted by a record-breaking run from junior Mason Cadenhead.</p><p>Cadenhead set a new Medina school record in the 400-meter dash Thursday at the Medina High School Bobcat Relays, clocking a winning time of 49.34 seconds. The mark eclipsed the previous school record of 50.6 seconds, which had stood since 1978.</p><p>The two-day meet began Wednesday with the Medina Junior High Bobcat Relays, where the seventh- grade boys team finished third overall.</p><p>Jamir Granderson led the seventh-grade boys with a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash in 13.04 seconds. He also helped power the 4x100-meter and 4x200-meter relay teams to third-place finishes alongside Carter Powers, Colt Cook and Tripp Taylor. Granderson added another first-place finish in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches, while Cook placed fourth at 4-2.</p><p>In the seventh-grade girls division, Harper Holcomb placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 22.82 seconds and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 65.33. Theodora Perkins finished sixth in the 300 hurdles in 69.20. The 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams, comprised of Ashton Ojeda, Brianna Luna, Karlee Quinones and Perkins, each earned third-place finishes. Holcomb also placed third in the high jump at 3-10.</p><p>For the eighth-grade boys, Slayton Hall recorded fifth-place finishes in both the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:24.61 and the 2,400-meter run in 10:04.53.</p><p>At the high school meet Thursday, Medina’s varsity and junior varsity squads continued the momentum.</p><p>In the varsity boys division, Cadenhead added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.81 seconds to go with his record- setting 400-meter performance. Davis Peterson claimed first in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.97 seconds and placed third in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.88.</p><p>Holland Cook finished second in the 800-meter run in 2:18.25. The 4x400-meter relay team of Cadenhead, Cook, Gaige Pitts and Peterson placed second in 3:43.24.</p><p>Pitts also won the high jump, clearing 6-4, and placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 57.38 seconds. Jackson Perez finished sixth in the discus at 80-6.</p><p>In the varsity girls division, Allison Watts won the 400-meter dash in 67.43 seconds, followed by teammate Cerydwen Villarreal in second at 71.73. Keeley DeLeon placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in 14.23 and fifth in the 200-meter dash in 29.32. Sreya Ayers finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 3:04.81.</p><p>Olivia Longoria placed third in the shot put at 277¾ and second in the discus at 72-8, while Lia Andrews finished fifth in the discus at 66-9.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera High School girls track and field team opened its 2026 season with a commanding performance, capturing both the varsity and junior varsity team championships at the third annual Ingram Bruce Faust Invitational.</p><p>The varsity Lady Bulldogs claimed the team title with 144 points, finishing 55 points ahead of runner-up Ingram.</p><p>The 4x200-meter relay team of Merry Robinson, Milesia Casas, Cassi Williams and Sydney Moore earned first place, as did the 4x400-meter relay team of Casas, Kamryn Fried, Williams and Moore.</p><p>Casas also earned an individual gold medal in the 200-meter dash. Robinson finished second in the same event, while Moore placed second in the 100-meter hurdles and Williams finished second in the 300-meter hurdles.</p><p>Briley Clark earned third in the 400-meter dash, and Madison Davis placed third in shot put.</p><p>The Bandera junior varsity squad also secured a team championship, finishing first with 149 points, nearly 40 points ahead of Llano.</p><p>Amy Rodriguez won the 3,200-meter run, and Maci Haby claimed first in pole vault.</p><p>The 4x100 relay team of Casas, Ashlyn Jess, Shelby Prater and Isabella Hinojo took first place, and the 4x200 relay team of Casas, Jess, Prater and Addyson Ranly also finished first.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera High School powerlifting team turned in a strong performance Saturday, Feb. 7, at the 5th Annual Marvin Allen Bulldog Powerlifting Invitational, with eight lifters earning top-five finishes against a competitive field.</p><p>Logan Harman led the Bulldogs, capturing first place with a combined lift total of 1,610 pounds.</p><p>The win adds to Harman’s successful season and places him among the top lifters in the region.</p><p>Bandera secured several additional podium finishes in the boys division.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera varsity Bulldogs outlasted Llano in a back-and-forth battle Feb. 10, securing a 22-21 walk-off victory in dramatic fashion.</p><p>With the score tied at 21 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Taylor Marrs delivered the game-winning hit, singling to drive in the deciding run and complete the comeback.</p><p>Bandera’s offense was led by Jasmine Longoria, who drove in four runs and went 3 for 4 from the leadoff spot. Marrs, Longoria and Haily Livingston each recorded three hits, while Riley Lalanne added two hits.</p><p>Bandera struck first in the opening inning when Lalanne singled to bring home a run. The Bulldogs then erupted for 14 runs in the second inning, taking advantage of timely hits, walks and aggressive baserunning to build a commanding lead. Longoria highlighted the inning with a triple and a double, each driving in runs.</p><p>Llano answered with five runs in the third inning and continued to chip away, eventually surging ahead in the sixth after scoring five runs to take a 19-16 lead.</p><p>Bandera responded immediately in the bottom of the sixth. Rehnahta Gomez delivered a key triple that brought in three runs as the Bulldogs regained the advantage, 21-19.</p><p>Llano refused to go away, tying the game in the seventh on a home run to center field. But Bandera had the final say when Marrs’ single ended the contest.</p><p>Mia Ranly pitched all seven innings for Bandera, striking out nine batters. Offensively, the Bulldogs finished with 14 hits, drew 18 walks and stole four bases.</p><p>Llano collected 17 hits and showed aggressive baserunning throughout the game.</p><p>Bandera will travel to Junction on Thursday for its next game.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera Bulldog basketball teams traveled to Wimberley on Tuesday, Jan. 20, for a series of district games against the Texans.</p><p>In the varsity contest, Bandera fell 89-51.</p><p>The Bulldogs struggled early but showed improved play in the second half, making the final two quarters more competitive.</p><p>Jeffry Thomas led Bandera with 13 points, while Riley Moran was credited by coaches for his defensive effort.</p><p>The junior varsity team played a close game throughout the night, with coaches describing it as the team’s most complete performance of the season.</p><p>Chris Martinez led the Bulldogs with 14 points, and Mack Pate added eight.</p><p>The freshman team also came up short but competed until the final horn.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera Lady Bulldogs picked up their first district win of the season Tuesday night with a 56–25 victory over the Canyon Lake Lady Hawks.</p><p>Bandera set the tone early, forcing seven steals in the first quarter and jumping out to a 20–3 lead.</p><p>The Lady Bulldogs carried a 21-point advantage into halftime and continued to control the game throughout the second half.</p><p>Senior Brooklyn Grabs led Bandera with 18 points and nine rebounds.</p><p>Senior Taytum Moeller anchored the defense with eight steals while adding 10 points and four assists. Senior Kourtney Frerich also contributed on both ends of the floor, finishing with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.</p><p>With the win, Bandera improved to 13–10 overall and 1–1 in district play.</p><p>Bandera will return to action Friday night at home against Fredericksburg.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>The Bandera Lady Bulldogs soccer team split a pair of closely contested pre-district matches last week, earning a home victory before dropping a narrow road decision.</p><p>Bandera opened the week with a 2–1 win over Hondo on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in the Lady Bulldogs’ home opener.</p><p>Sophomore Jessa Haws put Bandera on the board in the 20th minute after winning a contested ball played in by Kaylee Fried.</p><p>After Hondo tied the match, the Lady Bulldogs regained the lead late in the second half when they were awarded a penalty kick following a handball in the box.</p><p>Maddie Garza converted the attempt to give Bandera the decisive goal.</p><p>The Lady Bulldogs’ defense held firm over the final 20 minutes to preserve the win, securing Bandera’s third victory of the season.</p><p>Bandera returned to action Friday, Jan. 16, on the road against Robert G. Cole. The Lady Bulldogs fell behind 2–0 but continued to apply pressure throughout the match.</p><p>Haws scored her second goal of the week with three minutes remaining, finishing a free-kick assist from Garza to pull Bandera within one.</p><p>Despite the late surge, Bandera was unable to find the equalizer and fell 2–1.</p><p>The Lady Bulldogs will return home Tuesday, Jan. 20, to face Lockhart before traveling to Pleasanton on Friday.</p> ]]></content:encoded>

            <content:encoded><![CDATA[ <p>Bandera Middle School basketball teams competed against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats last week, with several squads posting strong efforts on both sides of the ball.</p><p>On the girls’ side, the eighth-grade A team improved to 2–1 with a 26–22 victory.</p><p>Bandera avenged a twopoint tournament loss to Carrizo Springs by holding on for the regular-season win.</p><p>Brenna Byrd recorded a double-double to lead the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Harper Hartsfield added six points, five steals and four rebounds.</p><p>The seventh-grade A team came up short but showed defensive intensity.</p><p>Lila Hicks finished with six steals, while Abigail Wright pulled down three rebounds.</p><p>Both players scored two points. The seventh-grade B team turned in a strong defensive performance, holding Carrizo Springs to a season-low 15 points.</p><p>The boys teams also saw competitive play throughout the night.</p><p>The seventh-grade A team rebounded from a scoreless first quarter to compete at a faster pace but fell 53–20.</p><p>Aiden Rush led Bandera with eight points, two rebounds and two steals, while Phoenix Alexander added seven points and two steals.</p><p>Leo Francis scored three points, and Accillies Pelio-Dillon finished with two points, four rebounds, a steal and a block.</p><p>The seventh-grade B team stayed close through the first half before Carrizo Springs pulled away in the second, handing Bandera a 23–11 loss.</p><p>David Freeman recorded four points, two rebounds, two steals and two blocks.</p><p>Noah Barton added three points and four steals, while Sebastian Carlos and Hye Hubble each contributed points and defensive effort.</p><p>The eighth-grade B team remained undefeated with a 39–20 victory.</p><p>Maverick Andrade led all scorers with 21 points, along with two steals and two blocks. Alberto Muniz and Jaxon Moseley each scored eight points, and Shaylon Garcia added six steals and four rebounds.</p><p>The eighth-grade A team trailed by five after the first quarter before Carrizo Springs extended its lead at halftime.</p><p>Bandera closed the gap in the fourth quarter but fell 50–27. James Bower led Bandera with a game-high 21 points, setting the pace offensively. Jeffry Thomas followed with 16 points while directing the offense and creating opportunities for teammates throughout the night.</p><p>Riley Moran provided a boost off the bench, finishing with a season-high nine points while adding defensive pressure as the Bulldogs’ sixth man.</p><p>Bandera’s freshman and junior varsity teams also competed against Hondo earlier in the evening. Both teams were edged by a tough Owls squad, but continued to show progress as the season gets underway.</p><p>The Bulldogs returned to action Friday morning on the road against the Floresville Tigers.
