Born Nov. 10, 1955, in Dallas Texas to Eldon Earl Myers, deceased, and Diana Parker Myers, Leslie Russell “Rusty” Myers Sr. went home to the Lord on Aug. 2, 2019, in Pipe Creek, Texas.

Rusty leaves his mother, Diana Myers Martin, two sons, Leslie Russell Myers, Jr. of Cibolo, Texas, and James Daniel Myers (Liz) of Leavenworth, Washington, and granddaughter, Phaedra.

Rusty also leaves a sister, Robin Butler (Edward) of San Antonio, and two brothers, Eldon Randall (Randy) Myers Sr., (Linda), of Pipe Creek, and Rodney Earl Myers, (Bea), of Lakehills, Texas.

Also surviving are three nieces, one nephew and the mother of his sons, Cindy Harris.

From the age of 14, when he spent the summer with his grandfather, Wendall L. Myers in Clinton, Illinois in his landscape business, Rusty had a love for growing plants and landscaping.

At age 18, he opened Green Things By Rusty garden centers at the old Gulf Mart stores on Fredericksburg Road and Broadway in San Antonio.

For most of the rest of his life, he worked in growing and landscaping, sometimes with his two brothers, until four years ago when he started helping Bonnie Bowman in her dog rescue mission in Pipe Creek.

He was instrumental in adopting out 400 dogs.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Lakehills United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. Celia Halfacre officiating.  Reception to follow in the mission hall.

Memorials may be made to Bonnie Bowman, in care of Barkin B, P.O. Box 693, Pipe Creek, Texas, 78063.
