The Bandera County Republican Party is seeking applications from resident wanting to be appointed chairperson of the party since the former chair, Dana Moeller, submitted her resignation last month.

Evelyn Snyder, the secretary of the Republican Party in the county, issued a release last week stating the party was accepting applications and resumes from individuals interested in being named the party chair.

A Wednesday, June 26, deadline has been set for interested individuals to submit those applications.

Application forms can be picked up at the Bandera County Elections office.  They should be submitted to P.O. Box 1174, Bandera, Texas, 78003 by the June 26 deadline to be considered by the party’ executive board for appointment to the post.

The elections office is located at 403 12th St. in Bandera.

Moeller, a deputy in the Bandera County Clerk’s office, had been named the party’s chair in April 2018 after the former chair, Linda K. James, resigned in the face of internal criticism of her job performance.

Moeller had run for the post in March 2018 but was defeated by James.

Moeller said at the time of her appointment that she wanted to reenergize the local party and boost its public profile in the county.

She acknowledged that she had resigned from the post when contacted about the opening last week but did not want to discuss her reason for the decision.

“I don’t really have a comment,” Moeller said.

Snyder said Moeller had submitted a letter of resignation stating that she would be leaving the post effective on May 23 but did not explain why.  Moeller asked that officials respect her privacy and not ask questions about her decision, said Snyder.

“We do not know why she resigned,” said the party secretary.  “Everybody is a little bit surprised.”

Snyder said Jerry Pierce, who had been the vice chairman of the party, has been chosen as the temporary chair until a new leader is selected.

The party’s executive committee will be responsible for naming the new chairperson, but when that will occur was unclear.

Snyder said anyone with questions about the opening can contact her at 830-796-3133 or online at
