There is usually very little I have to agree with in the Democratic Column, but Bob Garvin hit the nail on the head with Four-Letter Word Play. Iran has plenty of reasons to dislike the U.S.

I would also like to add the downing of Iran Air Flight 655. The USS Vincennes shot down a commercial airliner on its regularly scheduled flight in Iranian airspace over the Persian Gulf killing 290 people. Then Vice-President George Bush promised to “never apologize for the United States”

We teach our kids a set of values which help them on the play ground.

As adults, those values seem to go out the window. We are responsible for our actions. It is necessary to apologize and make recompense when we have wronged others. If they choose to not forgive us, that is their problem.

We use phrases like “Never Forget” for 9/11. Should Iranians be any different?
