Senior Maci Morrison soars above the net for a spike in the game against Hondo in the Bandera Lady Bulldog’s season opener against Hondo last week.

The Lady Bulldog Volleyball team dropped their home opener to the Hondo Owls in three straight games.

Bandera High School’s Competition Gym was full of parents and fans from both Bandera and Hondo. The new scoreboards looked impressive in the gym.

In game one, Senior Maci Morrison came out blazing with powerful spikes and consistent serves.

Her performance was stellar. She moved around the court supporting her teammates at every position.

Ashlyn Mott made a crucial save for the Lady Bulldogs, as well. The Lady Bulldogs showed great teamwork but could not overcome the Owl’s serves.

Game one ended with the Lady Bulldogs shut out 25-16.

In game two, the Bulldogs gained a slight advantage over the Owls, but lost ground in the second half of the game.

New varsity player Jayla Blake showed great ability spiking the ball.

Shaley Rogers kept alert and dinked the ball over the Hondo players. Rogers also showed the right stuff with her power serves to Hondo.

The Owls managed to inch back into the game and finished the game with a second final score of 25-16.

During the third game, Quinlynn Taylor and Taylor Hamilton got a big block against the Owls.

Maci Morrison continued her outstanding performance at all positions. Her serves, sets, spikes and blocks helped the Bulldogs get within striking distance to the Owls.

The Lady Bulldogs, however, could not overcome their own errors and Hondo’s consistent serving.

The final game ended with Hondo winning 25-22.
