The Medina Independent School District is super excited to have the new gym ready to use in the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year.
Thanks to the Superintendent Kevin Newsom and his vision for success, the kids at the school will have a very nice gym to use not only during the day with P.E classes and athletics but also for before-and-after-school activities.
I encourage the alumni of Medina to come up and see what is new and exciting for our kids and community. I am extremely honored to be back in Medina and to help build on past success.
There are really great kids here in Medina, and facilities are a great moral boost for any kid. It is nice to see the investment for kids being done right.
There will be many activities in the future that will involve the new facility, activities for our kids, parents and teachers that will result in a direct positive influence for all.
When we host athletic events at the gym and other locations, it is an economic boost for our local businesses.
When kids are supported by their school, they will perform at a high level.
We are super excited to bring back the Medina Youth Basketball League to Medina, and we are really excited to announce that over 60 girls and boys in kindergarten through the sixth grade signed up to play youth basketball in Medina.
Everyone knows that when you do something at a young age and continue it, you can’t help but to get better.
I am so proud of the support from the local community in bringing this youth program to our schools that will only be positive for kids and the school.
Again with the new facility, it allows us to manage practice times during the week and make sure we get kids in the gym during the week.
I want to personally thank each parent and grandparent in Medina who is getting involved in their kids’ activities.
The time and money spent on kids can’t be measured and will only help Medina ISD and its athletic department be successful for years to come.
I am very proud of what is happening and the vision put in place.
The new gym hosted its first workout with Medina basketball players on Friday, Dec. 27.
A community event officially opening the venue will be held in the near future.
