Medina scores high against Cherokee

The Medina Bobcats decidedly defeated the Cherokee Indians in a game at Bobcat Stadium last Friday, with quarterback Wyatt Boatman throwing 18 for 30 for 296 yards and eight touchdowns.

“I thought we played very well in our home opener. We made a mistake or two but overcame them with great effort from everyone,” said MISD Head Football Coach.

Quarterback Britton Wickham also threw one for one for 38 yards.

Elsewhere on offense, Nate Aguilar had 16 carries for 121 yards and three touchdowns, while Wyatt Boatman had four rushes for 33 yards.

Additionally, Britton Wickham had four receptions for 158 yards and four touchdowns, Branson Wickham had five receptions for 82 yards and three touchdowns and Dawson Simons had one touchdown after a ten-yard reception, his only of the game.

TJ DeLeon had four receptions for 73 yards, Aguilar had four receptions for 20 yards and Davis Briley had one reception for eight yards.

Wickham also had five PAT kicks for ten points, and DeLeon had one PAT kick for two points.

On defense, Aguilar and Ty Hill had seven tackles each, with Hill turning in 3.5 sacks.

Boatman had six tackles and one interception, while teammate Dawson Simons had six tackles and 2.5 sacks.

Wickham and DeLeon had four and three tackles respectively, while Kai Patterson had one tackle.

Brandon Harris and Sammy Aguilar each had one interception.

The Bobcats will have a long September away from home, starting with a September 3 game against William County before facing Our Lady of the HIlls, Rochelle, Atonement Academy and St Stephen’s Episcopal before finally returning home to face Prairie Lea.
