To close out 2019, the Lady Bulldogs played at Harper, but lost 60-36.
The varsity team was in the game after one quarter of play, trailing Harper 17-12. But the home team’s inside game proved to be too much for the Lady Bulldogs, and Harper was able to pull away during the second and third quarters, outscoring Bandera by 20 points.
In the final quarter, Bandera’s Summer Haby and Anna Guajardo each scored 2 points, and Madi Leal and Liz MacNeil each had 3 points, but not enough to overcome the deficit.
To open the new year, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to take on the Comfort Deer on Friday, Jan. 3.
The Lady Bulldogs came out ready to play and competed with Comfort in every aspect of the game.
After one quarter of play, the Lady Bulldogs only trailed Comfort by 3 points, as several defensive stands led to turnovers by Comfort.
The Lady Bulldogs kept playing exceptional defense and had a few more shots fall in the second. Breanna Stimmell, Haby, Guajardo, Kristin Salas and MacNeil all contributed points, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to cut the Comfort Deer lead to 22-21 at the at half.
In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs faced a great deal of adversity but fought the whole time and kept Comfort within striking range while never making enough of a surge to get ahead.
To finish the game, Bandera matched Comfort’s scoring, but it was just not enough to end up on top.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Comfort 51-44.
