In what might be the most memorable game of the regular season, the Medina Lady Bobcats squeezed out a win over Utopia 61-57 in overtime.

For a good part of the game, the Lady Buffalos were just ahead of Medina, and time was running out as fans on both sides were standing up and yelling for their teams.

In the last minutes, it looked a ping pong game as the lead changed back and forth with Bobcat players like Cydney Newsom continuously putting the ball in the basket for the win.

“Girls Basketball had another outstanding game against District Opponent Utopia. It went into overtime and the Medina Lady Cats came out on top with the victory,” said MISD AD Cully Doyle.

“It was a tough game and Utopia is a really good team and coached well. I have a lot of respect for the kids at Utopia and their coaches,” said Athletic Director Cully Doyle. “ The girls were behind early and came back inch by inch with good defense and just playing hard.”

Doyle added it was a big night for players like Cydney Newsom, Hallie Kunz, Kaidanse Pump, Kytlin Peterson, Loren Delagarza and Ollie Turner.

“They all played hard and smart and understood the goal of the game,” the AD said.

“I am so proud of the girls and the effort they put into the game. We needed that win to stay in the Playoff hunt. The girls are 3-2 in district play with another game next Friday in D'hanis before we start the second round of district play where we play,” he said.
