Bulldog runners shine ahead of district

On, October 7th, the Bandera High School Cross Country teams competed in the Alamo Heights Invitational against 5A/6A classification teams on a 5k course.

The junior varsity and varsity Lady Bulldog teams both placed first in competition. The boys JV team placed seventh and the boys varsity team placed second.

The Junior Varsity Lady Bulldogs started the evening off with freshman Jazlyn Dickerson leading the team with a third-place finish, while sophomore Makayla Gonzales finished with a close fourth place.

The other team finishers were freshman Kierstin Brown in sixth, junior Mallorie Powell seventh, freshman gabby Barrera 10th, Laney Bowman 14th and junior Ashlyn Brown 22nd.

The Varsity Lady Bulldogs took ahold of the race, with seniors Raelynn Butler and Hannah Edwards finishing first and second respectively. Sophomore Trinity Butler also medaled in the top 10, earning the sixth spot.

Other team finishers were sophomore Emily Presa in 13th, sophomore Carlye Niccum 14th, sophomore Gracie Bankston 16th and junior Danielle Gonzales 20th.

In the last race before the District Meet, the boys teams had a great showing.

The JV Team finished in third ahead of Clark, Lee and Seguin High School.

Jacob Haas led the JV squad finishing in 7th with a 19:11.

Other finishers on JV were Logan Sadler in 11th, Ruben Ruiz-Palacios 12th, Cody Jureczki 19th, Ashton Robinson 21st, Lane Timmons 27th, Ben Adamietz 30th, Nino Martinez 31st, Logan Klappenbach 37th and Kyle Moore 52nd.

The varsity squad took the runner up spot ahead of multiple 5A/6A schools.

The varsity top finishers were Braden Cox in fourth with a time of 16:58, Ethan Brown seventh in 17:05, and Felix Diaz seventh with a time of 17:32.

Additionally, Mariano Casas placed 22nd, Hudson Jackson 24th and Mack Robinson 27th.

The Bandera Bulldog Cross Country teams will be back in action Thursday, October 14, for their District 28-4A meet held at Bandera City Park starting at 9 a.m.
