Bandera resident Juan “Johnny” Martinez died in San Antonio December 29, 20, at the age of 69.

A funeral was held the morning of January 5, officiated by Rev. Msgr. Frank Kurzaj.

Martinez was born in Hondo on September 9, 1951, to Pedro and Guadalupe Martinez.

He graduated from Bandera High School in 1969. He married Janie Rodriguez Martinez on August 8, 1969 in Bandera Texas.

Smiling down upon us, this “Mountain of a Man” with many titles was taken to soon from us but left a treasure of loving memo ries. You are in our hearts forever.

Martinez was a loader man with Ingram Ready Mix in Bandera, Texas, for 23 years.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Angel Martinez, Jesse Martinez and Joe Martinez.

He is survived by his wife, brothers Pete Martinez (Kelle) of Bandera, Texas, and Ernest Martinez (Rosa) of Bandera, Texas, sisters Mary De La Fuente (Joe) of Bandera, Texas, Martha Moreno (Victor) of Amarillo, Texas, and Linda Moran (Juan) of Taylor, Texas, daughters Rachel Cruz (Harry) of Kissimmee, Forida, and Deana Greven (Ereik) of Bandera, Texas, son Daniel Martinez (Becky) of Bandera, Texas, and nine grandchildren: Ashley Inzauto, Ryann and Nicholas Cruz of Kissimmee, Florida, Ethan Greven of Dallas, Texas, Tanner Greven of Bandera, Texas, and Damon, Ian, Nathaniel and Kylie Martinez of Bandera, Texas.
