Danny Ray Moore, age 75, from Lakehills, Texas, passed away peacefully on the 4th day of March, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Houston, Texas on the 23rd day of September, 1946, to Jimmie Moore and Geneda Marie Walston Moore, both of whom having previously passed away.

Danny graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1966, was drafted into the United States Army, and honorably discharged after his military service in Germany. He had several jobs over the years, his last working for Shell Oil in Deer Park, Texas for over 20 years as a union heavy equipment operator. He retired with his wife, Fran, to Lakehills, Texas where he enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the Texas Hill Country.

He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles over the years with Fran and their many friends, making the trip to Sturgis, South Dakota more than once. In addition to Harleys, he enjoyed driving Corvettes and the other vehicles he owned over the years. Talking cars with him was always a fun time! And if it was time for a bite to eat – you couldn’t go wrong with Whataburgers and sweet tea!

If you were Danny’s friend, you had a friend for life. He would, and was known to, give you the shirt off his back. He cared for his many close friends like his family, always being there for them.

Anyone who knows Danny knows that family was always number one. He and Fran personally cared for his mother, Geneda, when she couldn’t care for herself any longer. He was always giving – not only to family, but to his many friends and others he didn’t know – the most giving man you would ever meet. He will be remembered as the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will also be remembered as a proud Christian and follower of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, living each day trying to follow His teachings.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Moore; brother Jimmie Moore, Jr. and wife Terrie of Houston, Texas; son Danny Ray Moore, Jr and wife Patricia of Spring, Texas; daughter Candace Marie Moore of Youngsville, Louisiana; grandchildren Emma Moore, Hannah Moore, Alexandra Dauzat, Trevor Mouton, Hunter Mouton, Blake Benoit and Brett Benoit; great-grandchildren Cassidy Dauzat, Ella Dauzat, Kolston Dauzat, Violet Mouton and Rylan Mouton; former spouse Barbara Ellen Vincent; and numerous other family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral services, with full-military honors, conducted graveside at eleven fifteen in the morning on Friday, the 1st day of April, 2022 at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Chaplain Steve Sill will be officiating the ceremony.
