State no longer reporting active COVID case count for counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) announced last Friday the department will no longer be reporting estimates of active and recovered COVID-19 cases by county.In a press release, DSHS said this decision was “because of the difficulty of assigning them to a specific year.”The announcement comes as daily active COVID-19 case counts in Bandera County and throughout Texas continue to climb, with Bandera County’s active case count setting new record highs by the day.DSHS reported January 11 that Bandera County had 218 active cases of COVID-19.
