David Speicher issued a statement last week thanking everyone who “welcomed my platform of experience, government accountability and change” following his loss for Bandera County Commissioner for Precinct Two in the Texas Primary Election earlier this month.

Bringing in 463 votes for 48.63 percent of the vote, Speicher ultimately lost to Greg Grothues, who received 489 votes for a 51.37 percent of the vote.

Grothues will replace Bobby Harris, whose term expires at the end of 2022.

“While we didn’t succeed this time, our County and our Lakehills Community always bounces back and lets ourselves be heard, and because of your voice, other candidates heard the issues of accountability you voiced through me,” Speicher said.

Elsewhere on the ballot, Jody Rutherford was reelected as County Commissioner for Precinct Four in an uncontested race. His new term will expire at the end of 2024.

Precinct One Commissioner Bruce Eliker and Precinct Three Commissioner Jack Mosley are currently serving terms that will expire at the end of 2024.
